Blazer’s Road to Becoming a 2023 Governor’s Volunteerism and Community Service Award Honoree
For the past two years, Blazer Heating, Air, and Plumbing has been actively supporting Habitat for Humanity in Hanover and King William counties. We have utilized our unique skills and expertise to directly impact the lives of community members.
As a valued partner of Habitat, Blazer Heating, Air, and Plumbing is involved in various programs. In the Critical Repair program, we offer no-cost HVAC replacement or repair for low-income homeowners who are unable to afford the necessary fixes. Additionally, we contribute to the Habitat recycling program by providing scrap HVAC materials, which generate funding for other initiatives while reducing waste in landfills.
Blazer also supports Habitat ReStores by supplying discounted new heating, air, and plumbing-related materials. The proceeds from these sales further benefit other Habitat programs.
In one instance, Blazer provided a free HVAC system and installation to a single mother with two children. One child has asthma and Von Willebrand disease, a rare bleeding disorder worsened by unregulated temperatures. With the new HVAC system, the family's living conditions were improved before the onset of dangerously hot weather.
Similarly, Blazer replaced an HVAC system for a disabled senior couple who had been enduring dangerously cold temperatures without proper heating. By upgrading to an energy-efficient unit, the couple now experience significant savings on their electric bill.
